RFDS Research: Aeromedical retrieval for suspected appendicitis in paediatrics patients

A significant number of paediatric patients are aeromedically retrieved from rural and remote locations with a diagnosis of appendicitis or acute abdominal pain. Future research should consider whether training in abdominal point-of-care ultrasound reduces retrievals.

The hard work and dedication of two Royal Flying Doctor Service (Queensland Section) board members were formally recognised in this year’s Australia Day honours.

Flying Doctor's world-first aeromedical jet on show for Australia Day

RFDS Western Operations chief pilot Albin Unger will be operating the Rio Tinto LifeFlight PC-24 jet aircraft as it does two laps around the iconic Swan River at the City of Perth sky show event on Sunday at approximately 4.45pm.
