Description

The Royal Flying Doctor Service (Queensland Section) delivers vital dental care to rural and remote Queenslanders through our Mobile Dental Unit (MDU). Equipped with two state‑of‑the‑art surgeries and an onboard OPG unit, the MDU supports around 70 patients each week, providing everything from preventive care to extractions. By bringing high‑quality dental services directly to communities, the MDU helps address immediate oral health needs while building long‑term wellbeing through regular, reliable care.

Who are we looking for?
You’ll be an experienced, adaptable Dentist who delivers high‑quality care with confidence in remote communities, bringing strong communication, cultural awareness and a collaborative spirit. You thrive in changing environments, work autonomously yet closely with a supportive team and take pride in making a meaningful impact on patients and local communities. You are resilient, organised and consistently deliver compassionate practice. You will demonstrate:

  • Registration with AHPRA, as a Dentist
  • Extra Oral Radiation License
  • Experience in rural and remote practice
  • Ability to handle challenging operational situations in a calm and rational manner
  • Proven clinical skills in managing a broad range of oral health issues
  • Evidence of annual certification in Basic Life Support (or willing to obtain before commencement) and a Current First Aid Certificate (AED)

Our Roster Supports Balance!
We’re offering flexible casual opportunities with a 2‑weeks‑on, 1‑week‑off roster. If you’re looking for something more regular or permanent, we’d still like to hear from you. Reach out for a conversation, as new opportunities often arise across our service.

Why join the RFDS and the MDU?
You will work alongside a supportive team of like-minded professionals who are passionate about our purpose and proud of the impact they make. The MDU is staffed by two highly skilled dentists and three dedicated dental assistants who travel on rotation to deliver essential oral health services across Queensland.
One of the most rewarding parts of this role is experiencing the genuine gratitude of patients whose lives are improved by the Flying Doctor team. You can look forward to a meaningful, challenging, and inspiring role where you will be warmly welcomed into the communities you support.
In addition, you will receive;
  • We offer an attractive Daily Rate + Super
  • You will be entitled to the remote allowances of $104 per day
  • We offer additional salary packaging of up to $18,500- increasing your take-home pay
  • Access to our Employee Assistance Program (counselling, nutrition, financial and legal advice).
  • Novated leasing options and private health insurance discounts.
  • Fitness Passport membership (discounted access to gyms and health centres for staff and families).
