At the Royal Flying Doctor Service (Queensland Section) (RFDS), technology plays a vital role in supporting life-saving healthcare services across regional, rural and remote Queensland. We are seeking an experienced Cyber Security Manager to lead our cyber security function and strengthen the protection, resilience and maturity of our digital environment.

About the Role

This is a high-profile role offering a unique opportunity to influence and shape the future direction of cyber security within a highly respected and iconic organisation.

As the organisation's trusted Cyber Security Manager, you will lead cyber security strategy, operations, incident response and continuous improvement initiatives across the RFDS Queensland and New South Wales Sections, while managing relationships with trusted vendors and service providers.

You'll represent RFDS Queensland on the National Cyber Security Working Group and collaborate with cyber security representatives across the WA, SA and VIC RFDS Sections, contributing to national security initiatives and helping protect our systems and information that support life-saving healthcare services across Australia.

About You

You are a collaborative and proactive cyber security professional with strong analytical and investigative capabilities, a technical background, and a passion for protecting critical services. You’ll also have:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Cyber Security, Information Technology or related discipline or equivalent experience
  • Experience in cyber security, infrastructure or systems engineering environments
  • Strong knowledge of cyber security frameworks, including NIST, ISO 27001 and CIS Controls
  • Experience managing cyber security incidents, vulnerabilities, risks and security improvement initiatives
  • Strong analytical and investigative skills, with the ability to identify vulnerabilities and drive practical security outcomes
  • Team leadership experience
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills, including the ability to maintain key Vendor relationships and present information to Senior Leadership and both technical and non-technical audiences.
