Health Promotion & Education
The RFDS runs a variety of health promotion and education programs that seek to improve the health and lifestyles of people living in remote and rural Australia.
This includes the Healthy Living program in Central Australia to help individuals and communities in remote areas adopt healthy dietary and exercise habits, and Well Being Centres in far-north Queensland that promote healthy living and safe communities. In Victoria, New South Wales and also Tasmania there are educational programs that visit schools.
Education & Training in SA/NT
We offer a range of training programs including education for doctors and nurses to keep their emergency skills up to date, as well as First Aid training for people living in remote communities. RFDS Central Operations also offers a range of placements for medical and nursing students.Read more

Our health team facilitate a number of educational health initiatives aimed at improving the health outcomes in remote, rural and regional communities. Our Education Officer and the aeromedical simulator also travel to schools and community events to teach children about the Flying Doctor.Read more

Look! Up in the Sky is an innovative education program designed to raise awareness and understanding of the RFDS by teaching staff, students and their parents in primary schools.Read more

Education in VIC
The Royal Flying Doctor Service Victoria provides an Education program for Primary and Secondary students to learn all about the Flying Doctors. The Education program teaches students about the significant contribution the Royal Flying Doctor Service has made to Australia's history and educates them on the range of services the Flying Doctor provides 24/7 to people living, working and traveling through out Australia.Read more
