Aircraft
RFDS Rockhampton operates three types of Beechcraft King Airs- B200, B350 & B360.
Services
RFDS Rockhampton Base commenced operations in 1995 and operates as an emergency retrieval base incorporating aeromedical retrieval and inter-hospital transfer services.
Orientation
On your first day at the Base, you will receive a full orientation, be issued with any necessary IT equipment (such as a laptop and mobile phone), and receive your swipe card for building access. You will also have the opportunity to complete the required e-learning modules. This is also a great time to finalise your ASIC if you have not already.
It is important, to always have your ASIC on and showing above the waist when airside. During your orientation we will cover in more detail hangar and airside security.
Getting to the base
- RFDS Rockhampton Base- Map Location
- A carport is available at the back of the hangar for staff parking. If the carport is full, staff may park on the grassed areas surrounding the base, provided entrances and access points remain clear.
- At the Patient Transfer Facility, on-shift nurses and pilots may park their cars in the carport.
- Ensure Airside and roadside gates are always closed for safety and security purposes.
Accessing the base
- On your first day, please ask for your manager at reception.
- After hours, use your staff swipe card or contact the Base Support Manager.
- You will be issued your staff swipe card on your first day.
Accessing the base car
- Collect keys from Base Support Manager and please utilise the designated register provided.
- If after hours, the keys will be on the reception desk in an envelope with your name on it and car registration number.
- Please ensure you complete the logbook
- There will be a fuel card in the vehicle for use please speak to the Base Support Manager for further instructions.
Arranging travel & Accommodation
The Base Support Manager will coordinate all your flight and accommodation bookings. You should expect to receive communication from RFDS via email to confirm all your bookings.
Nearby facilities
The nearest food facilities can be found on Wandal Road, just a short drive from base, where you’ll find an IGA, café, and bakery. Base staff also recommend Kinsfolk Coffee at 1 Meter St, The Range—only five minutes away—which offers a great selection of healthy meals and options.
There are plenty of fitness options across both the North and South sides of Rockhampton. Many base staff choose World Gym Rockhampton, located at 34 East St—just a 10-minute drive from base.
