More than $170,000 was raised by Western Australia’s resources sector in the Goldfields in support of the Royal Flying Doctor Service (WA) at a charity sundowner hosted by Topdrill on the eve of the Diggers and Dealers Mining Forum in Kalgoorlie.

In its third year, the charity sundowner saw more than 250 guests attend and help raise vital funds to equip RFDS aeromedical aircraft based in the Goldfields with new medical equipment.
Guests were invited to bid on a wide range of auction items at the signature event including jewellery, luxury holidays, sports memorabilia and camping equipment with all proceeds supporting the RFDS.

RFDS WA CEO Rebecca Tomkinson thanked Topdrill owners Tim and Angela Topham for their hospitality and guests from the resources sector and Goldfields community for their generous support of the RFDS.
“Keeping the RFDS flying is a true team effort in Western Australia,” Ms Tomkinson said.
“The RFDS is incredibly proud to operate a world-class aeromedical fleet to support the safety and wellbeing of people who live and work in some of the world’s most remote locations, 24 hours a day, 365 days of the year.”

Topdrill Managing Director Tim Topham said the generosity displayed by the resources sector in support of the RFDS highlights how integral the service is to regional and remote communities.
“We are thankful to the resources industry, our clients and friends of Topdrill who came tonight and pledged their support for the RFDS, in particular Unicorn Risk Solutions who donated $20,000,” Mr Topham said.
“We at Topdrill are incredibly proud to be a part of the RFDS family and already look forward to next year’s event.”
