We had the privilege of celebrating a very special milestone with the inaugural recipient of the Wendy Scholarship for Midwifery, Alana Weymuss.
Made possible by the generosity of donor and critical care nurse Andrea Gillett, the scholarship honours the memory of her mother Wendy, a regional WA nurse and strong supporter of the RFDS.
The Wendy Scholarship for Midwifery is part of RFDS WA’s commitment to strengthening healthcare in regional and remote communities. By supporting experienced nurses to gain midwifery qualifications, the program helps ensure more patients can access essential maternity care and creates a pathway for these clinicians to one day join RFDS flight teams.
With Andrea’s support, the scholarship will be offered over five years from 2026, creating a lasting legacy that continues to support both patients and healthcare professionals into the future.
Joining us virtually from Melbourne, Alana celebrated alongside Andrea and RFDS WA team members over a shared online lunch, before Andrea enjoyed a tour of our Jandakot base.
