Relocations
Your relocation has been approved as part of your appointment. This means that you are eligible to receive support through our relocation services, designed to make your transition as smooth and stress-free as possible.
Whilst we aim to make your move as seamless as possible with the support of The Corporate Relocator (TCR), there may be situations where arranging your own relocation is a suitable option. Please take a moment to review the policy below.
As outlined in the policy, self-initiated relocations require approval from your leaders.
The RFDS has engaged The Corporate Relocator to manage every aspect of your move.
Here’s a quick overview of what to expect during your move with TCR.
Initial Contact
The Corporate Relocator will contact you to discuss the services required, the move process and address any initial questions you may have.
Pre-move Inspection
The Corporate Relocator will arrange for three consultants from removalist companies to conduct a survey at a time convenient to you. The pre-move/site inspection will confirm the volume; pick up, delivery dates and site access, as well as providing an opportunity to discuss any specific requirements.
Invoice & payment
Relocations arranged via TCR will be paid by the RFDS (as detailed in the Relocation Policy).
If relocation costs go over the approved amount, you will be invoiced separately by the Removalist company for the difference and will be responsible for payment.
The employee will also be invoiced separately for any additional costs the RFDS does not cover as per the Relocation Policy. For example removal of pets, boats, redelivery charges from storage, storage past three weeks etc.
nb. If you prefer to organise the move yourself, you can seek reimbursement from the RFDS for up to the approved amount however if TCR have completed any of the above processes, their administration fee will be deducted from your approved amount.
Insurance
Following the inspection, TCR will forward a written quotation of all associated costs to RFDS for management review. The RFDS will arrange the documentation required for insurance.
Note: if you go over the approved amount provided by RFDS and are required to pay for part of the relocation yourself you will still be covered under the RFDS Marine Transport insurance.
Pre Move Preparation and pre-packing
All RFDS relocations include a full pre-pack service by the chosen removalist.
The successful removalist will discuss the removal timetable with you and confirm the time frame for removal preparation.
You will be asked to prepare your home for the arrival of pre-pack crews with a basic standard of cleanliness in preparation as crews require clean bench spaces and surfaces to perform pre-pack duties.
Should the transferee choose to pack personal items themselves, the successful removalist will ensure that the required cartons and checklists are delivered to the transferee in a timely fashion that corresponds with the moving dates.
The removal crew will disassemble all bunk beds, beds and standard household items requiring disassembly, during uplift. Swing sets, trampolines and the like fall outside this standard service.
Packing and Uplift
At the time of uplift, the removal crew will assess the household belongings and personal effects and determine the most appropriate uplift plan. The Removalist will provide experienced packing and removal crews to prepare household items for transit and to safely load these items. This plan will result in the vehicle or container being correctly loaded to ensure the safety of items during transit.
Specialist Packing
High value and fragile items such as works of art, fine furniture and antiques require customised casing and packing to ensure safe handling and transportation. If required please discuss with removalist during initial inspection.
Inventory and uplift
At the time of uplift, an inventory will be taken of goods and any existing damage noted. The transferee needs to be present to sign off on the accuracy of this inventory.
At the time of delivery, this inventory is cross-checked to ensure its precision and customer satisfaction. At this point, the transferee should inspect the goods with a member of the removal team. It is important that you check off individual items when you sighted them and not assume they are there.
Transportation and delivery
The Removalist will provide a correctly specified moving vehicle to transport the transferee’s effects in the time frame agreed. Consignments will be transported either by road in approved furniture vans, by rail in approved shipping containers, or overseas in approved shipping containers.
Unpacking
Removal staff will unwrap all furniture and position within the home as directed by the transferee. Staff will unpack to bench top and reassemble all furniture disassembled by removalist at the point of origin.
Once unpacking and placement is complete, the removalist will remove all packing debris, (recovering cartons for recycling) from the transferee’s home.
Valet Service
Valet unpacking provides an option for people who for work, family or lifestyle reasons need to re-establish the home environment quickly with the minimal involvement.
Please discuss this option when the removalists do their pre-removal inspection and be aware this option will be at your own cost.
The Corporate Relocator Post Relocation Survey
The Corporate Relocator will undertake a post relocation customer satisfaction survey on your move. This survey and follow up allows you to discuss any service defects or delights encountered during your move. This feedback is invaluable as it allows continually assessing and improving service performance, whilst also providing the information from which KPIs are determined.
