At the Royal Flying Doctor Service (Queensland Section), you’ll be driven by purpose rather than tasks. Here, every role contributes to making a difference in people’s lives each day.
Our Bundaberg Base operates 24/7 providing aeromedical services to South East Queensland. Located right next door is the Aeromedical Training Academy which houses the only Beechcraft King Air 260/350/360/360Q Pro Line Fusion Full-Flight Simulator (FFS) in Australia. A mix of operational crews and support staff work from this site, including people in clinical care, aviation, engineering, logistics, and administrative roles, all working together to improve access to healthcare across the state.

Getting to the base
Navigate to 20 Aviation Crescent, Kensington QLD 4670.
Staff are encouraged to park in the open carpark at the front of the facility, specifically in the spaces on the left-hand side. Please keep the three spaces on the right, closest to the building, available for visitors and short-term use.
Once you have received your staff access card, you will also be able to use the gated secure carpark.
Accessing the base
On your first day, head to reception, where you will be greeted by the team at reception or your manager.
If you need to access the Base outside of office hours, use your swipe card or contact the Base Support Manager.
Please note that we share the reception area with LifeFlight so your card will only work on the right-hand swipe reader at reception doors.

Orientation
On your first day, you will receive a full orientation, be issued with any necessary IT equipment (such as a laptop and mobile phone), and receive your swipe card for building access.
You will also have the opportunity to complete the required e-learning modules.
This is also a great time to finalise your ASIC if you have not already.
Accessing the base car
Keys can be collected from the Base Support Manager during business hours. If you are arriving after hours, keys will be placed in a tray located in the BSM’s office, inside an envelope labeled with your name.
Please ensure you sign the key in/out register, which is also located in the tray.
Work travel bookings
The Base Support Manager will coordinate all your flight and accommodation bookings.
You should expect to receive communication from RFDS via email to confirm all your bookings.
Nearby facilities
There is a Liberty service station just a five-minute walk from the Bundaberg Base on Airport Drive. It offers a range of hot and cold food options, including coffee.
For those starting early, the best place for coffee before a 6:00am shift is Favours Coffee at 109 Barolin Street – they open from 5:00am.
For groceries, Coles, ALDI, and Woolworths are all within a five-minute drive of the Bundaberg Base.

Bundaberg offers a beautiful natural backdrop with plenty of spots to unwind or explore:
