ASIC - New Applications

In line with Aviation Transport Security and the Aviation Transport Security Regulations, the RFDS requires specific roles to hold and maintain an Aviation Security Identification Card (ASIC). An ASIC identifies a person who needs regular, unescorted access to the secure areas of security-controlled airports that have regular public transport services. The following page will help you navigate the process of obtaining your ASIC.

Please note: ASIC applications can take over 1 month to process therefore, we kindly ask that you attend to this as soon as possible.

STEP 1: Process your Application and Upload ID
  • You will receive an email from Veritas to initiate your application. Open the link in the email from Veritas.
  • Complete your online application and upload your ID.
  • If you need assistance, please refer to the Acceptable Identification Documents information sheet below.

You will need:

One Category A Document: Birth Certificate, Citizenship or Visa

One Category B Document: Passport or Drivers Licence

One Category C Document: Medicare Card or Bank Card

One Category D Document: Evidence of Residential Address- Utility Bill, Bank Statement or Rates Notice

If your name varies between your Category A, B, C & D identification documents, you must also supply a change of name document issued by Births, Deaths and Marriages.

In the section titled 'Please provide details/ information to support your requirement for an ASIC' - please copy and paste the following:

  • {Insert your full name} is employed by the Royal Flying Doctor Service (QLD Section) as a {Insert Role Title}
  • {Insert your full name} requires a red ASIC with unsupervised airside access to the RFDS hangars, runways, and aprons at multiple airports QLD-wide to complete operational duties for the RFDS (QLD Section).

On your application form, disregard the option to have your ID verified through the Brisbane Airport Corporation.

Once your application form is complete, you will receive an email from Veritas asking you to lodge your application and have your ID Verified. This email will include a PDF attachment; you will need this for step 2.

STEP 2: Lodging Your Application and ID Verification

Before your application is lodged, you will need to have your identification documents verified (in-person) at least 3 weeks prior to your commencement date.

You can have your ID verified through an authorised Australia Post outlet.
Alternatively, if you prefer to have your documents verified at one of our bases, please let us know.


When you are having your ID verified in person, please take the following:

  • ASIC Application - as per Step 1, print, or have on your phone, the PDF received from Veritas.
  • ALL original ID documents used for your online ASIC application.

Once you have lodged your application and verified your ID in person, you will receive an auto-generated email from Veritias confirming your ASIC application is now processing at AusCheck.

STEP 3: Collect Your ASIC

Once your ASIC is ready for collection, your RFDS ASIC Agent will be in touch to arrange collection.

ASIC cards are delivered to your base of employment.
