After breaking his tibia in a soccer game, 19-year-old Jake was taken to Adelaide for emergency surgery, and thanks to your care and support, he recently ran back onto the soccer field for the first time, leaving everyone amazed at how fast he still is.
Narelle, Jake’s mum, will never forget the day Jake collided with another player at a soccer game in Broken Hill. Jake broke his tibia, experiencing terrible pain, and needed urgent treatment and surgery.
“Driving Jake to Adelaide would have been extremely long and difficult, but we were able to access the medical treatment and surgery so quickly.”
There was a lot of fear for Narelle, Jake was only 19, and she really wanted to fly with him. “The pilot recognised Jake because his own son plays soccer in Jake’s competition. The flight nurse was so kind and made both Jake and I very comfortable. These guys are amazing; they showed outstanding care and empathy.”
Living in Broken Hill, Narelle knows many people who have relied on the Flying Doctor. “I would prefer everybody stayed safe and didn’t require this service, but that is unrealistic. Accidents happen, and we are very fortunate to have this amazing service.”
Your compassion delivered the critical care Jake urgently needed. Thank you for being the reason mums like Narelle can trust us to be there.
