Woolworths stores across Queensland and Northern New South Wales are throwing their support behind the Royal Flying Doctor Service (Queensland Section) raising more than $44,000 in two days.

Woolworths staff are encouraging customers to buy a $2 wall token in support of the Flying Doctor from any of their staff members during the four week campaign.

To show how much this kind of support means for every Australian who has used the RFDS, Flynn the Flyer, the official mascot of RFDS today visited staff and customers at Woolworths stores in Ashgrove and Stafford City.

RFDS (Queensland Section) Partnership Coordinator, Lynda Inglis said the fundraising effort of Woolworths Stores across Queensland in the first two days of the campaign had reached beyond expectations.

"To have a company such as Woolworths putting their support behind the Flying Doctor really means a lot to those who use and need our service," Ms Inglis said.

"And to see how much Woolworths customers have contributed in only two days is just fantastic. It really makes a difference in helping us reach those in need throughout all of Queensland.

"The RFDS couldn't operate without the generosity of our supporters and businesses to ensure the Flying Doctor keeps flying."

The Woolworths campaign is taking place at 248 stores throughout Queensland and Northern New South Wales until Sunday, October 16.
