The Outback Car Trek is done and dusted (excuse the pun) after another highly successful year, and organisers already have some big plans in place for the 2023 fundraiser.
Trek Chief Excitement Officer Bill Patrick said well over $900,000 has been raised at this year’s charity event, with all funds going towards supporting the lifesaving healthcare delivery services of the Royal Flying Doctor Service.
“I think it is an excellent result, especially considering we’ve been through COVID, lockdowns and border restrictions during the last two years,” Mr Patrick said.
Despite only just getting back home, the dedicated work to support the Flying Doctor hasn’t stopped, as planning for the 2023 event has been underway for several months.
“Normally every five years we hold a big Trek, and next year we’ve decided to be bringing the big Trek forward a year and take 10 or 12 days travelling from the west coast to east coast (far North Queensland),” Mr Patrick explained.
“It’s going to be a grand adventure and I would definitely say get in touch if it sounds like something you’d like to get involved with. A lot of fun for a great cause – come and join us!”
