The Royal Flying Doctor Service congratulates and pays respect to Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee - marking 70 years of dedicated service to Australia and the Commonwealth.

In 1954 Queen Elizabeth II and HRH Prince Philip visited our Broken Hill Base and gave us the Royal assent/charter. From that time, the Flying Doctor Service was known as the Royal Flying Doctor Service. We are honoured to have the Royal Charter and offer our sincere appreciation.

“I have heard so much of the work of the Flying Doctor Service and the security and comfort it brings to every part of the outback. I express my admiration to all those, past and present, who have contributed to its splendid work.” - Queen Elizabeth II, 1955, speaking at the RFDS base in Broken Hill, NSW
