The joy of giving back

RFDS Victoria “Give Them Wings” scholarships have played a vital role in bridging the rural healthcare gap since 2012.

They help promising students who live rurally to complete a course of study that will one day benefit people in their community.

Emily is a great example. Her scholarship helped her launch a new business providing sorely needed support to Aged Care and NDIS clients in her community of Donald in west Victoria.

As well as sitting on our scholarship judging panel for the last few years, Emily recently donated $6,000 to fully fund a “Give Them Wings” scholarship herself.

“This scholarship encourages rural students to come back and work their chosen professions in regional areas, and that’s something we desperately need. Not just in our region, but in all rural areas.”
