Earlier this month Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS) Victoria joined Amplitude Energy in Orbost for their Community Breakfast event – celebrating a partnership that’s making a real difference to rural health care.

Over the last nine months that partnership has worked with Orbost Regional Health to bring a vital telehealth offering for endocrinology and pain management to Orbost, providing dedicated specialist appointments closer to home for those who need it most.

East Gippsland patients experiencing pain or needing endocrinology support have experienced increased availability of these specialties through a targeted specialist telehealth clinic delivered by Flying Doctor Remote Specialists.

The clinic is located at RFDS Victoria’s health partner, Orbost Regional Health, where patients are being supported by local health professionals to connect with a pain and addiction physician via telehealth, at no cost.

The dedicated specialist time and collaboration with local health care provides patients with a level of care that can be difficult to access in a timely manner, and removes the significant burden of travel those living outside metro areas bear when seeking treatment and management of endocrine issues and chronic pain issues.

Thanks to Amplitude Energy’s impactful contribution, the immediate benefits of timely and appropriate interventions are now available to more people in Orbost, and will continue to be so, with RFDS Victoria pleased to announce this vital 3-way partnership will continue for another 12 months.

RFDS Victoria’s Acting Head of Operations, Primary Healthcare Jadie Hunter, joined RFDS Victoria and Amplitude Energy staff at the Community Breakfast and expressed the importance of the program and the ongoing partnership.

“It was great to see the positive impact the remote specialist program is having to the Orbost community. With support from Amplitude Energy continuing for another 12 moths, this will ensure this important program can keep supporting the Orbost community into the future.”
