National Community Partnership TAL Insurance

TAL partnership

The Royal Flying Doctor Service is delighted to have a long and mutually beneficial partnership with TAL Insurance.

TAL is Australia's life insurance specialist and for over 140 years they have been protecting people, not things. Today, they insure more than 3.7 million Australians, working to protect lives and give them choices when they need them the most.

With 1600 members across six offices around Australia, TAL supports the Flying Doctor through a National Community partnership to make a real difference in health service outcomes for those that live in rural and remote Australia.

As a direct result of this National Community partnership with TAL, the RFDS is better able to provide better health service access to those that are needing it.

Chief Customer & Brand Officer, Alex Homer, said "We're proud to renew our partnership with the RFDS for another three years. Support for people in regional Australia is even more critical during the COVID-19 pandemic. Even before COVID-19, accessing health services in rural and remote Australia could be difficult in some communities," Alex said.  "Through TAL's support, we are helping the RFDS to bridge this gap and improve the health and wellbeing of people in these areas.

TAL and the RFDS both have proud histories of being there for Australians when they need us most and the partnership aligns well with our Purpose.  The partnership is a terrific fit for both parties, particularly as it aligns with the TAL Community Foundation key focus areas: children overcoming disadvantage; Indigenous communities; and mental health.

“We want to thank TAL for their ongoing support of the Royal Flying Doctor Service as a National Community partner", said Frank Quinlan, Federation Executive Director.  "We are excited to have the support and assistance of TAL staff, customers and supporters to provide better health access for those that live in rural and remote Australia."

TAL and RFDS

TAL have put in an outstanding effort to raise funds for defibrillators to keep hearts pumping in rural areas. To date, TAL have donated $180,000which will enable us to purchase, implement and provide training for 127 new defibrillators in rural and remote areas across Australia.

In many situations, access to a defibrillator can be the difference between life and death for victims of sudden cardiac arrest. If effective CPR is given or a defibrillator is used within 3-5 minutes of cardiac arrest survival chances increase from 6% to 74%. Deaths from sudden cardiac arrest are preventable if the right tools are on hand and by increasing defibrillator access in rural and remote Australia we are saving lives and keeping Australia’s heart pumping.

Thank you for all your hard work and support TAL!
