Woolworths customers have donated more than $170,000 to the Royal Flying Doctor Service in just two weeks at their local check-outs.

A total of $173,224 was raised during the in-store fundraising campaign, with customers given the option to ‘Round-Up’ their purchase of $30 or more to the nearest dollar at self-serve check-outs to help support the Flying Doctor in Queensland.

More than 250 Woolworths stores across Queensland and Northern New South Wales participated.

The funds go directly to helping the RFDS purchase the latest state-of-the-art medical equipment, invest in infrastructure, and continue to provide life-saving services across regional, rural, and remote Queensland.

Woolworths General Manager for Queensland Danny Baldwin thanked everyone who supported the RFDS Round-Up.

“The simple act of kindness makes a difference in ensuring communities across Queensland can access the help they need, when they need it most,” Mr Baldwin said.

“Our partnership has now spanned over seven years, which has seen Woolworths customers and team members raise more than $2.7 million since 2015.

“At Woolworths, we try to bring a little good to everyday and customers can do the same, as they have an option to donate all year round to the RFDS.”

RFDS (Queensland Section) Chief Executive Officer Meredith Staib thanked Woolworths and its customers for their ongoing support.

“Our expert teams deliver vital healthcare to Queenslanders no matter where they live, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. But, without the support of communities and our corporate partners like Woolworths, we simply wouldn’t be able to do the job we do,” Ms Staib said.

“On behalf of the RFDS, I would like to thank Woolworths team members and customers for their incredible generosity. Your support ensures we can continue to deliver the finest healthcare to the furthest corner of our state.”
