Outback grazier and photographer Wendy Sheehan is using her eye for talent and love for regional Queensland to judge the 2025 Outback Explorer Competition, brought to you in partnership with Elders.

Wendy was named the 2024 Outback Explorer Competition winner for her video, ‘Wonderful Western Queensland’, which nailed the brief of sharing what she loved about her community and the people in it.
Her video creatively showcased snippets of her family’s life on Trinidad Station, a 250,000-acre property located north-west of Quilpie, where they breed merino sheep and cattle.
“I entered the competition because it was an opportunity for me to share our part of Queensland, our agriculture story, and the role the Flying Doctor plays in keeping us safe,” Wendy said.
“Throughout my life, the RFDS and Elders have played a vital role in connecting our community to essential services.
“Whether it's visiting an Elders store for chook food or calling the Flying Doctor for a retrieval or an appointment at the clinic.
Wendy entered to help spread the word about the RFDS Service but never expected to win the $10,000 prize, courtesy of Elders.
Now she’s excited to step in as a judge, bringing her experience from website Bulldust & Mulga to help select this year’s standout video submissions.
“I’m looking forward to seeing everyone's entries and will be specifically looking for submissions that tell a story,” Wendy said.
The 2025 Outback Explorer Competition invites participants to share their life in regional Queensland on YouTube, Instagram or TikTok for the chance to win.
The winner will be selected by our panel of judges and will win $10,000, courtesy of Elders, and the three videos with the highest number of votes will receive $1,000.
Voters can also go into the draw to win a Premium Adventurer Rescue Swag!

Wonderful Western Queensland by Wendy Sheehan
It's not just the people, the places and the wide-open spaces. It's the history that surrounds us and the landscapes that ground us. It's the growing things and the flowing things, and the flying things under the ever-present sky. It’s the things that make you go oooh, and the things that make you go owww. It’s even the dry and dusty times, and the hard and trying times.
