Rachael Gooch suffered critical injuries when she fell from her horse, including a collapsed lung, broken vertebrae, six broken ribs and other injuries. The RFDS airlifted her from Gladstone to intensive care in Brisbane where she had life-saving surgery.

"I did ask family to donate to the Flying Doctor instead of buying me get well gifts, however I also wanted to leave a gift. A thank you for their dedication. I had never met these people before my accident, and yet they saved my life.

"For those considering a bequest, don't consider, please just do. I was one who always thought 'It won't happen to me'. And it may not. However an accident may happen to a loved one, a neighbour, a friend or someone you know. And then wouldn't you want the best services available?"
