The Royal Flying Doctor Service (Queensland Section) (RFDS) and Elders have launched the Outback Explorer Competition—an initiative aimed at showcasing the diversity of Queensland communities and those who live in them.

Participants are invited to create a short video that shows their life in regional Queensland on YouTube, Instagram or TikTok for the chance to win $10,000.

The competition will run for six weeks, between 15 July and 26 August, with all videos to contain the Outback Explorer Competition sticker, which is available on the competition website.

RFDS (Queensland Section) Chief Executive Officer Meredith Staib said the competition was an exciting collaboration for two iconic organisations that share a mutual connection to rural Queensland.

“This is a fantastic initiative which we know many people will want to participate in,” Meredith said

“Living in rural and remote Queensland is a far different existence from life in Queensland’s larger centres.

“We expect a lot of rich content to come from these areas and can’t wait to see how creative people can be.”

Elders has thrown its support behind the Outback Explorer competition, joining forces with the RFDS to help highlight the unique spirit of life in rural and remote Queensland.

“At Elders, we’re passionate about supporting the people who make our regional communities thrive and are proud to partner with the RFDS on the Outback Explorer competition to help shine a light on the stories behind life in the bush,” said Lisa Hewitt, Elders QLD/NT State General Manager.

“We’re looking forward to seeing the creativity and pride Queenslanders will showcase as they bring their communities to life through this campaign.”

The best video will be chosen by a panel of judges, and three runners-up who receive the most votes will receive $1,000.

Those who cast a vote will also go in the draw to win a lucky draw prize, a Premium Adventurer Rescue Swag

Whether it's moments of you living, working or travelling in regional Queensland, your video could inspire many future generations to create full and meaningful lives in the bush.
