The Royal Flying Doctor Service (Queensland Section) (RFDS) is connecting outback communities through its newly launched online streaming service—RFDS Radio Queensland.
With a distinct Aussie accent and colloquial charm, you might never guess our leading announcer is none other than AI Joe, a cutting-edge artificial intelligence radio host who’s here to redefine the industry.
Developed by Local Sounds, RFDS Radio Queensland features the latest insights into the Flying Doctor.
Listeners can also hear the latest news, weather, episodes from the RFDS Podcast, messages from our very own RFDS Ambassadors like Steve Price OAM, and of course great music.
RFDS (Queensland Section) Executive General Manager Commercial and Corporate Affairs Carole Tokody said it is an innovation that provides another important link to supporters and the wider community.
“We really wanted to find a way to have a channel that anyone, wherever they are, could connect with us,” Carole said.
“RFDS Radio Queensland allows us to do that in a way that’s both entertaining and informative.
“We’ve been fortunate to partner with an organisation like Local Sounds to come up with a radio station that really captures the essence of what we’re all about.”
John White from Local Sounds said it has been great working with the RFDS (Queensland Section) to develop content with the help of their very own artificial intelligence radio announcer AI Joe.
“By combining AI technology with real human voices, we’ve been able to ensure the station is on air 24/7 and able to provide the latest up-to-date content as well as a great mix of music,” John said.
“We felt it was important to understand what it was the RFDS wanted to achieve with the station and to do that, we’ve worked closely with them to create a format we think is good to listen to.
“AI Joe can be tasked to provide breaking news, the latest weather forecasts as well as updates around RFDS flight movements and even upcoming towns to be visited by the Mobile Dental Service.
“It really is a station for all Queenslanders and we’re proud to have played a small part in creating the latest chapter in innovation for the RFDS in Queensland.”
