About the role;

The Royal Flying Doctor Service (Queensland Section) (RFDS) is seeking a skilled, compassionate, and adventurous Medical Officer to join our incredible front-line team. Experience a unique professional challenge as you provide invaluable general practice/primary health care services to regional, rural and remote Queenslanders.

Who are we looking for?

To be successful in this role you should have:

  • Registration with AHPRA as Medical Practitioner
  • Fellowship of the RACGP or ACRRM (Senior Registrars are encouraged to apply)
  • 3 - 5 years post graduate experience
  • Ability to meet Medical Officer– PHC credentialing requirements
  • Previous experience in rural and remote health delivery and emergency medicine clinical setting highly desirable
Responsibilities include:
  • Clinical Service delivery (history taking, examination, decision making, diagnostics ordering and interpretation, clinical procedures, specialist referrals or secondary care admissions)
  • Providing clinical care of an acute or emergent patient, pending the attendance of retrieval services
  • Providing telehealth consultations (utilising telephone, videoconference, email)
  • Collaborating and liaising with other care providers to ensure an integrated approach to patient care
  • Providing advice to nurses and other health professionals as required
  • Participating in quality improvement activities (clinical audits and case reviews)
  • Respecting cultural diversity including traditional Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander views of health

Successful candidates may be subject to a pre-employment medical assessment and will be required to undertake drug and alcohol testing. Candidates are required to hold a current, unrestricted Australian driver's licence and obtain an ASIC Card. You will also be required to successfully complete the RFDS credentialing process. Prior to appointment you will be required to provide certified copies of qualifications/registrations and evidence of immunity or vaccination against VPD.
