About the Role:
The Fatigue and Safety Management System (SMS) Advisor is a brand-new position within the RFDS (Queensland Section) Risk & Assurance team, providing expert advice to improve the Fatigue Risk Management System (FRMS) for RFDS Aviation team members.
In this role, you will contribute to the improvement of the FRMS and assist in the preparation for CASA submission for approval, as well as supporting the implementation of any changes, including designing the necessary fatigue training packages for all RFDS personnel and promoting the FRMS as a whole. In addition, you will investigate all fatigue reports and safety occurrences that may have been influenced by fatigue.
This is an exciting career opportunity to join our friendly and passionate Risk & Assurance team on a full-time, 6-month max-term contract, with the potential to extend!
Key Accountabilities:
- Assist in the preparation and the improvement of the FRMS, to achieve CASA approval
- Rewrite and consolidate all training material needed for Pilots, Engineers, Duty Tasking Officers (DTO) and Ground Support Officers (GSO)
- Design and implement a new fatigue manual for engineers, maintenance watch engineers and GSO’s that is separate from the FRMS
- Improve data collection for fatigue events and extract relevant fatigue information from Air Maestro to show useful trends and present this data at safety meetings for action
- Provide technical advice, guidance, education and support to Leaders to drive compliance with Civil Aviation Legislation and other standards adopted by the organisation
- Advise on policy and procedure development, review, and updating of documents
- Provide input and engage in all functions of the SMS
To be successful in this role you will be systems savvy and display the following –
- Formal qualification in an Aviation safety related discipline such as human factors or fatigue risk management (or equivalent)
- 1-3 years relevant experience
- Pilot Fatigue Risk Management experience
- Familiar with CASA legislation
- The ability to interpret and analyse data to present insights to leadership
- Demonstrated ability to provide high level advice and guidance to managers and leaders
- Demonstrates an understanding of human factors and fatigue management
- Broad operational knowledge and experience in the functions of an aviation organisation
