The Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS) is one of the world's largest and most comprehensive aeromedical organisations. The RFDS in Queensland provides excellence in and access to primary health care and aeromedical services across the state. Our emergency retrieval service operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week, delivering the finest care to more than 330,000 Australians each year, that’s one person every two minutes! In addition to aeromedical retrievals of the critically ill or injured, the RFDS also delivers a broad range of essential primary and preventative healthcare services, including telehealth, mental health, oral health and health promotion.

About the role:

As part of the content team, the Content Officer will assist in delivering the RFDS (Queensland Section) content plan which aligns to the RFDS Communication and Engagement strategy. The content plan focuses on growing and engaging audiences through a wide range of platforms, communicating with both internal and external stakeholders including through social media.

The role will commence in February 2024 as a full-time, maximum-term contract, ending on 31 January 2025.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Be the audience advocate, know what they want and how to engage with them to achieve the organisations objectives
  • Develop and co-ordinate content for RFDS media channels in line with the key messaging strategy
  • Actively seek opportunities to add value to existing media and content strategies
  • Collaborate with leaders to brainstorm and execute on strategies, campaigns, and events
  • Collaborate with the Senior Content Advisor to create engaging content for a range of publications and purposes, including internal communications, annual report, brochures, e-newsletters and materials for specific campaigns
  • Assist the Commercial and Corporate Affairs team with other projects when required
Who are we looking for?

To be successful in this role you will possess the following:
  • Bachelor's degree in Media, Marketing, Journalism, Communication, or a closely related field
  • Strong communication and stakeholder and customer engagement skills
  • Extensive experience in content writing
  • Demonstrated experience in social media and web content creation, video editing, media, and crisis management, and the coordination of external providers
  • Demonstrated experience in successful collaborations on projects with multiple stakeholders
  • Previous experience in a not-for-profit/human services environment (Desirable)
  • Experience in content management systems e.g., SharePoint, CRM database, and campaign monitoring software utilisation (Desirable)
