Are you an Administration Officer looking to provide support for a vital and local service provider?

This role is for you!

Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS) Longreach Base is looking for an Administration Officer to join the team. You will support the day-to-day operations of the Central West Mental Health and Wellbeing Service through effective and efficient administrative support. This role is a part-time opportunity that can be worked over 3 days, 6 hours a day. We are happy to be flexible should you want to work reduced hours over more days.

This role will be on an initial maximum term contract for 12 months, with the strong possibility of an extension.

We are looking for an Administration Officer who likes working in a small team and is self-motivated. You will also be able to:

  • Process incoming client referrals and notify the relevant clinicians
  • Maintain communication and correspondence with referrers at the direction of the clinician (i.e.- typing up letters)
  • Schedule client appointments
  • Monitoring the Mental Health and well-being inbox and answering incoming enquiries
  • Perform reception duties –answering the phone, email enquiries and walk-in enquiries
  • Complete banking procedures
  • Coordinate servicing, maintenance repairs and monthly odometer readings for the Mental Health vehicle fleet

Who are we looking for?
You will have an administration background, possess multitasking skills, be a team player and have organised work practices. You will have:
  • Demonstrated experience in administration and customer service
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office suite applications
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with a range of internal and external stakeholders
  • Excellent time management skills with demonstrated ability to establish priorities and manage workloads within deadlines
  • Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and achieve goals
  • High attention to detail
  • The ability to pick up new systems and databases quickly

About us:

The RFDS (Queensland Section) has the largest mental health service of the RFDS sections across Australia. The RFDS (Queensland Section) mental health service is made up of several specialised teams, spanning across the state providing psychological therapies for people living in difficult-to-access parts of rural and remote Queensland.

Since 2004, our Longreach Base has provided mental health support to people in the town and surrounding communities. The service operates on a hub-and-spoke basis with the Longreach office being the primary base for clinicians offering services in surrounding communities. The multi-disciplinary team consists of clinicians with qualifications in psychology, social work, mental health nursing and occupational therapy. The Longreach Base provides three specific services — psychological therapies, low-intensity counselling services and mental health and well-being promotion.
