General Manager - Airworthiness

Responsible for ensuring the Continuing Airworthiness Management of all RFDS (Queensland Section) aircraft operated under the AOC.

Description

The RFDS is moving into the future with a continued focus on best practice and a strong motivation for achieving excellence in safety and quality assurance. The RFDS (Queensland Section) has a vacancy for a General Manager Airworthiness in a full-time, permanent capacity based in Brisbane at the Brisbane RFDS Base.
The General Manager Airworthiness is the Continuing Airworthiness Manager (CAM) appointed within the organisation charged with the responsibility of ensuring the Continuing Airworthiness Management of all aircraft operated under the AOC.

Key responsibilities
They will lead standards for excellence and improvements through our values and:

  • Performing those Regulatory functions demanded by Section 28 of the Civil Aviation Act 1988, CAR’s and CASR’s that are assigned to the CASA Approved – Manager of Continuing Airworthiness & Maintenance Control
  • The leadership of the airworthiness team in accordance with the policies and procedures outlined in the RFDS CAME (Continuing Airworthiness Management Exposition), SMS and QMS (ISO 9001, CASR 42/135/145, ISBAO and QLD Health Aviation Standards)
  • Provide support and advice to the CEO and RFDS Board in the areas of airworthiness and maintenance control
  • Being responsible as the CASR Part 42 Responsible Manager for Airworthiness and Maintenance Control for the AOC operation and within the RFDS Engineering Department
  • The continuous improvement of the fleet in line with industry best practice including the technical management of all modifications carried out and ensuring aircraft configuration compliance (statutory, airworthiness and client requirements)
  • Accountability of the airworthiness operations budget
Who we are looking for?
To be successful in this role you will possess the following:
  • Formal Qualifications in Management, Engineering, or relevant
  • Currently or previously held CASA approval for HAAMC or Form 4 CAM
  • Demonstrated management and organisational skills and experience within an aviation operating environment
  • Demonstrated skill in leading a team of like-minded aviation professionals and promoting a positive team culture
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the Regulations and Standards applicable to the continuing Airworthiness of Aircraft (King Air – desirable)
  • Strong computer skills across relevant Office and aviation maintenance databases/systems
  • Comprehensive knowledge of aircraft airworthiness, maintenance control and certification regulatory requirements
  • Strong understanding of CASA regulations
  • Proven ability to manage projects, coordinate resources, and achieve outcomes
  • Committed to collaboration with other Key Personnel in Flight Operations, Safety and Engineering Maintenance teams
  • Representative in Aviation Leader/AOC Post Holders management forums
  • Flexible with working hours (including work outside of core business hours) may be required
