Description

The Royal Flying Doctor Service (Queensland Section) is offering the exciting opportunity to those seeking to take the next step in their engineering career. The RFDS will cover costs associated with training and licensing while working as an Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (AME).
The LEAP pathway is a perfect evolution for current AME’s and for ex-military personnel looking to transition into the civil aviation industry. They will be supported throughout the process of becoming a licensed aircraft maintenance engineer (LAME) under the LEAP program. Development for those LAMEs just starting out is provided to gain respected industry experience.
The AME portion of this role is essential to RFDS Queensland meeting expected on time performance with minimal impact to aircraft shift availability due to technical defects. This will help minimise Direct Maintenance Costs and ensure safe, compliant operational performance of the RFDS Fleet in service of the people of Queensland.

Key responsibilities
Your key responsibilities in this role will include:
  • Conduct weekly scheduled aircraft Base maintenance checks of aircraft without impact to aircraft network availability
  • Conduct troubleshooting and rectification of any line defects arising daily during flight operations for all aircraft
  • Availability for AOG call out after hours and weekends for fleet defect rectification Queensland wide.
  • Supporting aircraft maintenance across entire aircraft
  • Ensure compliant management, storage and usage of tooling and GSE
  • Compliance with all Occupational, Health, Safety & Welfare policies and procedures
  • Participate in ongoing training associated with LEAP
  • Complete statutory and company documentation associated with Licensed Aircraft Maintenance Engineer training
Who we are looking for?
To be successful in this role you will need to possess the following:
  • Trade Certificate Cert 4 or equivalent specialising in Sheetmetal
  • Minimum 4 years aircraft maintenance experience
  • Proven attention to detail and high degree of accuracy
  • Sound knowledge of the regulatory environment in relation to aircraft maintenance
Desirable skills and experience
  • Experience on RFDS Queensland Section aircraft types
