Job Description

RFDS (Queensland Section) is seeking a Practice Manager, internally known as the Practice Coordinator, to work closely with the Primary Healthcare team in Cairns.

The Practice Coordinator supports the daily operations of Primary Health Care (PHC) clinics, facilitating access to healthcare to those living, travelling, and working in rural and remote Queensland.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Effectively manage the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system (Training, recalls and reminders)
  • Manage systems that enable access to consultant letters and discharge summaries
  • Coordinate the EMR system to ensure aeromedical, clinic and telehealth clinical information is incorporated into patient records and the necessary follow-up is added
  • Facilitate overview of all incoming pathology results
  • Administer the online appointment booking system
  • Support PHC projects and reporting
  • Maintain oversight of clinic appointments
  • Act as liaison between patients and clinicians
  • Act as the main reference point for patient referrals

Who are we looking for?

You would describe yourself as efficient, a team player and display excellent attention to detail. You will naturally possess high levels of competence and the ability to communicate to a diverse range of stakeholders.

  • Diploma of Practice Management (desirable)
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in Medical Administration or Practice Management
  • Proven ability to handle challenging operational situations by utilising well-developed problem-solving skills
  • Proven proficiency in using medical terminology and medical software
  • Exceptional organisational and prioritisation skills
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team to achieve team-based outcomes
  • The ability to work autonomously with minimal supervision
  • Highly competent in maintaining confidentiality
