Located at our Charleville Base, this is a permanent, part-time position (0.25 FTE) with FIFO options available (within QLD).
The Royal Flying Doctor Service (Queensland Section) (RFDS) is seeking a skilled, compassionate, and adventurous Medical Officer to join our incredible front-line team. Experience a unique professional challenge as you provide invaluable general practice/primary health care services to regional, rural and remote Queenslanders.
As a skilled Medical Officer, you will deliver:
- Primary Health Care delivery (history taking, examination, decision making, diagnostics ordering and interpretation, clinical procedures, specialist referrals or secondary care admissions)
- Telehealth consultations (utilising telephone, video conference, email)
- Collaborative approach with other care providers to ensure integrated patient care
- Advice to nurses and other health professionals as required
- Quality improvement activities (clinical audits and case reviews)
- Clinical care of an acute or emergent patient, pending the attendance of retrieval services
- Respectful understanding of cultural diversity including traditional Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander views of health
To be successful in this role you should have experience in the following relevant areas:
- Registration with AHPRA as Medical Practitioner
- Fellowship of the RACGP or ACRRM
- 3-5 years of post-graduate experience in primary care
- Ability to meet Medical Officer– PHC credentialing requirements
- Previous experience in rural and remote health delivery and emergency medicine is highly desirable

To ensure the health and safety of our staff, our patients, and these communities, as well as to manage the risks involved in service delivery and COVID-19 transmission in these communities and our workplaces, our staff are required to be vaccinated against COVID-19. If you are the successful candidate the requirement to be vaccinated against COVID-19, including maintaining any recommended booster requirements, will be a term of your employment, as will the requirement to provide proof of vaccination.
