Description
The Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS) (Queensland Section) is seeking an experienced and dedicated Registered Nurse and Midwife to Lead the Mount Isa Aeromedical Nursing Team. This role is a permanent, full-time opportunity and comes with a relocation allowance in addition to remote area allowances.
RFDS Mount Isa Base is a busy aeromedical base completing inter-hospital transfers, aeromedical retrievals, and primary health care throughout Northwest Queensland.
The Role
- Provide emergency retrieval services
- Provide regular transfers of patients
- Deliver essential healthcare services to rural and remote communities
- Support and promote Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health
- Support and promote child and family health
- Support and promote women's health and health services
As an integral part of our Leadership team, you will inspire, coach and model our people-centred mindset. In addition, you will;
- Provide leadership, support and guidance to Flight Nurses
- Lead workforce planning and recruitment of Flight Nurses
- Develop and maintain relationships with key internal and external stakeholders
- Work closely with the State Manager – Aeromedical Nursing and collaboratively with interdisciplinary base leads to deliver operational services that ensure the safe, efficient and high-quality delivery of aeromedical nursing services
- Ensure adequacy of clinical equipment, maintenance and consumables such that aeromedical activities are supported at a base level
- Engage with clinical governance processes and ensure compliance with policies and procedures
- Manage local nursing aeromedical resources within the approved budget
Essential Skills
- AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse and Midwife
- Well-developed management skills including demonstrated skills in leadership and decision making
- Ability to meet flight nurse credentialing requirements and maintain own aeromedical clinical practice
- Demonstrated ability to implement change
- Commitment to continuous quality improvement
- Comprehensive knowledge of contemporary nursing practice in the aeromedical environment
- Demonstrated skills in analytical and innovative problem solving
- Knowledge or ability to gain knowledge of enterprise agreements and legislation applicable to aeromedical nursing
- Demonstrated ability to contribute to operational planning
