Description
Due to internal promotion, the Royal Flying Doctor Service (Queensland Section) (RFDS) is looking for a highly experienced, self-motivated, and engaging individual to join the Digital and Technology team in the role of Clinical Systems Administrator. As part of the Digital Transformation program, this unique opportunity will support RFDS's future growth and optimisation.
The role of the Clinical Systems Administrator is responsible for the maintenance, configuration, and reliable operation of applications and technology that support RFDS critical clinical business systems. This includes the installation, configuration, release and ongoing monitoring and maintenance of RFDS clinical applications. Maintaining and enhancing strong relationships with key business stakeholders will be critical in successfully managing incidents, requests, problems and complaints relating to clinical systems. Your key responsibilities in this role will include:
- Incident and problem management
- System availability and capacity management
- Configuration Release and Change Management
- Stakeholder and Relationship management
This role is a maximum term contract (12 months) in a full-time capacity based in Brisbane. Digital & Technology offers hybrid working arrangements with a mixture of home and office work, as well as regular team days.
Who are we looking for?
To be successful in this role you will possess the following:
- Associate or Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, System Administration, or a closely related field, or equivalent experience
- Strong communication and stakeholder and customer engagement skills
- Complex problem-solving skills and ability to explain technical issues and solutions in simple easy to understand language
- 7+ years of experience implementing and supporting clinical business systems
- 5+ years of supporting clinical systems SQL databases and industry-standard messaging technologies
- Working knowledge of Medical Director, virtualization, VMWare, or equivalent
- Hands-on experience with scripting and automation tools
- Experience with ITSM Ticket Management, including queue management and triage
Qualifications/Registrations
- ITIL Foundation Certification (III or IV)
- Current QLD Drivers Licence

The Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS) is one of the world's largest and most comprehensive aeromedical organisations. In Queensland, the RFDS employs almost 500 people ranging from pilots, doctors, nurses, engineers, allied health professionals, and a variety of administration and support services roles. The Corporate Office is located at the Brisbane International Airport, and RFDS operates from nine operational bases located in Brisbane, Cairns, Townsville, Rockhampton, Bundaberg, Charleville, Mount Isa, Longreach and Roma.
The RFDS also delivers a broad range of essential healthcare services to rural and remote communities, as well as emergency retrieval services.

RFDS (Queensland Section) works with vulnerable patients in remote parts of Queensland and provides an essential service to many regional and remote communities. To ensure the health and safety of our staff, our patients, and these communities, as well as to manage the risks involved in service delivery and COVID-19 transmission in these communities and our workplaces, our staff are required to be vaccinated against COVID-19. If you are a successful candidate the requirement to be vaccinated against COVID-19, including maintaining any recommended booster requirements, will be a term of your employment, as will the requirement to provide proof of vaccination.
The successful applicant will need to undertake a police check, hold an ASIC and undertake initial and random drug and alcohol testing. Intrastate travel, inclusive of overnight stays is also a requirement of this role.
