Description
The Royal Flying Doctor Service (Queensland Section) (RFDS) are leaders in providing access to aeromedical and primary health care services to people in remote, rural, and regional locations. The RFDS (Queensland Section) has a vacancy for a Quality & Safety Manager- Engineering (QSME) in a full-time, permanent capacity based in Brisbane at the Brisbane RFDS Base.
Key responsibilities
The QSME will lead quality & safety standards through our values and-
- Perform the responsibilities of Quality and Safety Manager as described in the RFDS QLD Services CASR Part145 Maintenance Organisation Exposition and RFDS QLD Section Safety Management Manual and Maintenance Control Manual
- Proactively report matters of high risk within Airworthiness and Aircraft maintenance to the Accountable Manager (CEO)
- Proactively work in collaboration with and inform the Head of Aircraft Airworthiness and Maintenance Control (HAAMC) and Manager Engineering Operations (MEO) on Engineering quality and safety issues
- Lead the planning and implementation of the approved engineering audit schedule
- Investigate, report on, and support resolving of non-conformances
- Develop, manage, and continuously improve policies and procedures, for example, Emergency Repose Plan (ERP)
- Lead and prepare the organisation for external accreditation
Who we are looking for?
To be successful in this role you will possess the following:
- Formal Qualifications in Lead Auditing, Aviation Safety Investigation, Aviation and Safety Management or Quality Management
- Demonstrated ability to provide high-level advice and guidance to managers and leaders on Safety, Environment, and Quality matters.
- Meet the Form 4 requirements of CASR 1998 Part 42 and CASR Part 145 for appointment as Quality and Safety Manager Engineering
- Extensive aircraft maintenance or associated experience in a Part145 environment
- Comprehensive knowledge of the Regulations and Standards applicable to the continuing Airworthiness of Aircraft
- Comprehensive knowledge of Aircraft Maintenance and Certification Regulatory requirements.
- Strong understanding of CASA regulations
- Proven ability to manage projects, coordinate resources, and achieve outcomes

There may be an intermittent need to travel intrastate with overnight stays.
