The Royal Flying Doctor Service of Australia (RFDS) is one of the largest and most comprehensive aeromedical organisations in the world. Using the latest in aviation, medical and communications technology, we deliver extensive primary healthcare and 24-hour emergency service, from nine strategic bases, to those who live, work and travel throughout Queensland.

The Role

The Royal Flying Doctor Service (Queensland Section) is looking for expressions of interest from experienced and enthusiastic pilots to join the Queensland team in expectation of future vacancies at our operational bases: Brisbane, Bundaberg, Cairns, Charleville, Mount Isa, Rockhampton and Townsville.

You’ll be playing a vital role at the forefront of aeromedical aviation in providing dedicated aeromedical and primary health care services to regional and outback Queensland.

RFDS Queensland uses a fleet of modern pressurised Beechcraft B200 and B350 turboprop aircraft to deliver services. The aircraft are configured as an intensive care unit to transport patients in a two-stretcher configuration.

Who are we looking for?
As a pilot on our B200/B350 fleet you will possess:

• Current Instrument Rating- Multi Engine Aircraft with four or more renewals
• Hold a current Australian ATPL / CPL and class 1 medical
• 3000 hours flying time in total
• 2000 hours as Pilot in Command
• 1000 hours as Pilot in Command of Multi-engine aircraft
• 200 hours as Pilot in Command at night
• 200 hours instrument time
• Turbine experience

You will be able to work in small teams, be agile in your approach, dedicated to the job and focused on the task at hand. You will be required to work a full-time roll across weekdays, weekends and public holidays.

Successful candidates will be subject to a Police Checks and Pre-employment Drug and Alcohol Testing. Candidates are required to hold a current, unrestricted Australian Driver's Licence and obtain an ASIC Card. You will also be required to successfully complete the RFDS credentialing process. Prior to appointment you will be required to provide certified copies of qualifications/registrations and evidence of immunity or vaccination against VPD.

RFDS (Queensland Section) works with vulnerable patients in remote parts of Queensland and provides an essential service to many regional and remote communities. To ensure the health and safety of our staff, our patients and these communities, as well as to manage the risks involved in service delivery and COVID-19 transmission in these communities and our workplaces, our staff are required to be vaccinated against COVID-19. If you are a successful candidate the requirement to be vaccinated against COVID-19, including maintaining any recommended booster requirements, will be a term of your employment, as will the requirement to provide proof of vaccination.
