Description

Whilst the RFDS will always be known for its aeromedical services, primary health care now makes up two-thirds of our daily operations, as a continued emphasis on prevention is vital to see better health outcomes for those that live in rural and remote Queensland.

The RFDS in Queensland deliver comprehensive general practice services via regular clinics in rural towns, remote stations, mine sites and islands. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team RFDS Medical Officers deliver services across the broad range of PHC presentations including both chronic and acute.

About the role;

• Charleville or Mount Isa locations
• Fly in and Fly out options available
• Full time or part time positions
• Fractional FTE available
• 6-month maximum term contracts

Who are we looking for?

Medical Officers to work in Primary Health Care in QLD.
To be successful in this role you should have:

• Registration with AHPRA as Medical Practitioner
• Fellowship of the RACGP or ACRRM (Senior Registrars are encouraged to apply)
• 3 - 5 years post graduate experience
• Ability to meet Medical Officer– PHC credentialing requirements
• Previous experience in rural and remote health delivery and emergency medicine clinical setting highly desirable

Responsibilities include:

• Clinical Service delivery (history taking, examination, decision making, diagnostics ordering and interpretation, clinical procedures, specialist referrals or secondary care admissions)
• Providing clinical care of an acute or emergent patient, pending the attendance of retrieval services
• Providing telehealth consultations (utilising telephone, videoconference, email)
• Collaborating and liaising with other care providers to ensure an integrated approach to patient care
• Providing advice to nurses and other health professionals as required
• Participating in quality improvement activities (clinical audits and case reviews)
• Respecting cultural diversity including traditional Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander views of health
