Description
The Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS) Queensland Section is looking for keen and motivated people with an interest in aviation. RFDS Queensland is hosting an Apprenticeship in Avionics (electronic/instrumentation) which will provide a great start in the dynamic and internationally competitive aviation engineering industry.
Apprenticeship in Aeroskills (Avionics)
The Certificate IV in Aeroskills (Avionics) will help you enter the aviation industry as an Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (AME). AME’s generally undertake:
- Scheduled inspections
- Repair and diagnose faults
- Work with electronic and flight instrument systems and components
- Complete aircraft electronic inspection duties
How the apprenticeship works
The RFDS will be working in partnership with Skilled 360, Aviation Australia and a Registered Training Organisation to host the apprenticeship. The apprenticeship will:
- Take approximately 4 years
- Have a mixture of theory and hands on experience
- Have approximately 10 weeks over the year in the classroom
- Be a Full-time role based at Brisbane Airport at the RFDS Base.
We are looking for motivated candidates with an interest in aviation and who are keen to work as a part of a team. In addition, we are looking for a candidate who has:
- Completed Grade 12 with good marks in Maths and Physics
- Technical aptitude and interest in the aviation industry
- Previous technical/pre-apprenticeship study would be highly regarded
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proven attention to detail and high degree of accuracy
- Intermediate to advanced computer skills including the ability to pick up new computer applications
- Ability to handle challenging operational situations in a calm and rational manner.
