Description
The Royal Flying Doctor Service (Queensland Section) (RFDS) is one of Australia's most recognised and respected charities, delivering life-changing healthcare services to communities across Queensland.
We're seeking an experienced and strategic General Manager Marketing & Engagement to join us during an exciting period of growth, transformation and innovation. Offered on an initial 12-month contract, this role provides a unique opportunity to lead a newly structured Marketing & Engagement function during a significant period in RFDS Queensland's Towards 100 strategy.

The Role
As General Manager Marketing & Engagement, you will lead a multidisciplinary team of specialists and people leaders and provide organisation-wide leadership across brand, communications, media, content, events and community engagement. Leveraging audience insights and strategic storytelling, you will strengthen community connections, enhance brand impact and support the delivery of RFDS Queensland's strategic priorities.
Key responsibilities:
- Lead the strategic direction of RFDS Queensland's Marketing & Engagement function
- Provide leadership across brand and marketing, content and media, events and community engagement
- Strengthen the RFDS brand, reputation and community connection through integrated audience-led strategies
- Oversee storytelling, key messages, communications and campaign activity that support organisational priorities
- Lead media and reputation management, including strategic communications and issues management
- Develop and coach high-performing teams, fostering innovation, accountability and collaboration
- Use audience insights, research and performance data to inform decision-making and continuous improvement
- Partner with leaders across the organisation to ensure aligned planning and delivery of strategic priorities
You are an accomplished marketing and engagement leader with a proven ability to develop and execute strategic initiatives that deliver measurable outcomes. You thrive in purpose-driven environments and are passionate about building meaningful connections with stakeholders, supporters and communities.
You will bring:
- Bachelor of Marketing, Communication, Journalism or equivalent experience
- Significant senior leadership experience in marketing, communications, engagement, brand or a related field
- Demonstrated success leading multidisciplinary teams and developing high-performance cultures
- Strong strategic thinking, stakeholder management and influencing skills
- Experience managing brand, media, communications and reputation initiatives
- A collaborative leadership style with the ability to build effective relationships across diverse stakeholder groups
- Demonstrated experience building and protecting organisational reputation, including navigating complex or high-profile communications issues
- Strong commercial acumen and the ability to use data and insights to drive decision-making.
