Description

Join the Royal Flying Doctor Service (Queensland Section) (RFDS) Airworthiness team and play a direct role in planning the maintenance of a geographically dispersed fleet supporting rural and remote Queensland communities.

As Aircraft Maintenance Planner, you will coordinate short-, medium- and long-term maintenance planning, working closely with the Operations Control Centre (OCC), Airworthiness team and contracted Approved Maintenance Organisations (AMOs). Your work will balance regulatory compliance, maintenance capacity, operational priorities and aircraft availability.

This is a varied role for an aviation maintenance professional who enjoys turning complex requirements into achievable fleet plans, identifying emerging conflicts and improving the systems that support safe and efficient operations.

The position also provides planned leave coverage for Technical Records. You will be trained and maintain competence across key records processes so you can independently preserve the accuracy and integrity of RFDSQ's continuing airworthiness records when required.

This is a Permanent, Full-Time position based at the RFDS Brisbane Base.

Key responsibilities of this role will include:

Maintenance planning - primary function

  • Develop and maintain short-, medium- and long-term maintenance plans aligned with fleet availability and operational priorities
  • Review maintenance due requirements and manage maintenance release intervals, scheduled maintenance and modification programs within realistic timeframes
  • Create and manage maintenance work orders within the Maintenance Information System (MIS)
  • Coordinate maintenance inputs with OCC, the Airworthiness team and contracted AMOs, confirming that providers have the capability and capacity to complete assigned work
  • Monitor aircraft utilisation, emerging maintenance conflicts and planning risks, and identify opportunities to consolidate work and minimise downtime
  • Maintain accurate planning data and provide planning evidence and compliance records for internal and external audits
  • Contribute to procedure development, process improvement, specialist projects and engineering administration as required.
Technical Records - cross-coverage function
  • Maintain working competence across designated Technical Records processes and provide independent coverage during periods of leave and additional support during workload peaks
  • Process completed scheduled maintenance work packages within the MIS, ensuring inspection findings and rectifications are accurately captured
  • Process component transactions to maintain accurate aircraft configurations
  • Support annual airworthiness reviews for aircraft controlled under the RFDSQ Maintenance Control Manual.
