Women need tailored, gender-specific healthcare, just like everyone else. In rural and remote communities, where specialist services may require hours, if not days, of travel, this divide can deepen. We help bridge this geographical barrier by providing essential healthcare for women all year-round.
During timely moments like Jean Hailes for Women's Health's Women's Health Week (1 to 5 September), however, it gives us an opportunity to bring women's healthcare to the top of the agenda and encourage women in our communities to prioritise their health. Not just this week, but every week. We coordinated a real-life example of this on Wednesday, 3 September 2025, with a women's health clinic in Tilpa, NSW.

Supporting women in Tilpa and beyond
Our Tilpa clinic transformed into a sea of purple on Wednesday, as staff wore the colour to show their support of Jean Hailes' Women's Health Week. Patients travelled from neighbouring regions to attend the day packed with information, healthcare support, and genuine connection.
We delivered comprehensive support in a safe, inclusive environment.

Highlights included:
- Primary care talks and checksBreast care checks and advice
- Mental wellbeing support
- A delicious morning tea and lunch provided by the local community
- And plenty of laughter, fun, and joy with games, a lucky door prize, and an inspirational colouring-in competition.
Women could leave with a permanent reminder of the day – a Women's Health Week goodie bag filled to the brim. Just a few items included a mindfulness colouring book, frisbee, sunscreen, and the RFDS & CWA's Darn Good Yarn book.
We were grateful for the Outback Mobile Toy Library attendance. This rural travelling playgroup joined us to provide free childcare during the day. Patients with kids could switch from ‘parent’ mode to ‘me’ mode, and take the time needed to focus on themselves.
