The CMV Group's ‘$90,000 for 90 years’ initiative saw employees vote for a chosen charity, with the RFDS receiving the majority of South Australian-based staff votes.

RFDS SA/NT Executive General Manager Strategy, Brand & Reputation, Charlie Paterson, said the generous grant from the CMV Group Staff Foundation will help the RFDS continue to provide life-saving services to rural, regional and remote communities.

“With the $90,000 from the CMV Group Staff Foundation, we’ll be purchasing two heart monitor-defibrillators, which will be transported in our aircraft,” he said.

“One in three patients that we airlift is related to a cardiovascular condition. A patient we airlifted a couple of years ago was kept alive during the flight from Alice Springs to Adelaide, defibrillated 54 times using one of those monitors.

“It’s about saving lives and provision of the very best of care for all South Australians and Northern Territorians.

“We’re really grateful for the support. Thank you, CMV Group Staff Foundation.”

CMV Group Staff Foundation Chair (SA), Heidi Crawford, said giving back to the broader community has always been an important part of CMV’s culture.

“The Staff Foundation wanted employees to have a say on where our $90,000 for 90 years funds were directed, because, at its core, the Staff Foundation is about supporting causes that are important to staff,” she said.

We know the RFDS will use the $90,000 well to support their life-changing services.

Inspired by the philanthropy of CMV founder, Sidney Crawford, employees at the CMV Group established the CMV Group Staff Foundation, which gives staff the opportunity to donate a portion of their salary, which is matched dollar-for-dollar by the CMV Group Foundation.
