Isuzu UTE Australia and the Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS) have now reached a significant milestone, with the RFDS Aeromedical Simulator Program surpassing 200,000 kilometres travelled across the country. Since 2023, Isuzu UTE Australia has supported the program as Major National Partner, with its fleet of D-MAX vehicles towing the RFDS simulators far beyond major cities and deep into regional, rural and remote Australia.
From busy regional centres to isolated outback towns, and even through the challenging terrain of the Simpson Desert, each kilometre travelled has helped broaden the reach of the Flying Doctor, connecting more Australians with an experience that is rarely accessible outside emergency situations.
Over the course of the partnership, the simulator has:
- Visited more than 270 towns and attended over 620 events
- Engaged 2.8 million Australians through community activations, with reach expected to exceed 3.7 million by July 2026
- Travelled to some of the most remote locations in the country
At the heart of this journey is the RFDS Aeromedical Simulator, a full-scale replica aircraft experience that gives communities a rare, behind-the-scenes look at life-saving medical retrievals. Through hands-on education, it brings to life the critical role the RFDS plays in delivering healthcare to some of Australia’s most isolated regions.
By taking the simulator directly into schools, local events and communities, the program is not only raising awareness of the challenges facing remote healthcare but also inspiring the next generation to engage with and support the RFDS mission. Behind the scenes, the Isuzu D-MAX fleet plays an essential role. Built to handle long distances and tough conditions, each vehicle ensures the program can continue to reach communities, no matter how far off the beaten track they may be. The scale of the journey is reflected across the country, with Queensland’s D-MAX leading the distance travelled at 66,190km, followed closely by Victoria at 64,689km, a clear demonstration of the program’s national footprint.
As the journey continues, the partnership between Isuzu UTE Australia and the RFDS remains focused on going further, reaching more communities, sharing more stories and strengthening health awareness across Australia’s most remote regions.
Reaching 200,000 kilometres is more than just a milestone. It represents thousands of community connections, millions of Australians engaged, and a growing understanding of the vital work the RFDS delivers every day.
