Description
As Senior Base Engineer, you will play a critical role in keeping RFDS Queensland’s fleet safe, compliant and operationally ready. Working at our Brisbane Base, you’ll lead maintenance planning, defect management and base engineering coordination to support a 24/7 aeromedical operation that delivers essential care across Queensland.
This is an ideal opportunity for an experienced LAME or senior engineering professional looking to step into, or continue in, a leadership-focused base engineering role.
This role is essential to RFDS QLD meeting expected on time performance with minimal impact to aircraft shift availability due to technical defects. This will help minimise direct maintenance costs and ensure safe, compliant operational performance of the RFDS Fleet in service of the people of QLD.
This is a Permanent, Full-time role at the Brisbane Base.
Key responsibilities
In this role, you will:
- Manage staff resourcing, planning and rostering in conjunction with the OME
- Provide direct and indirect oversight of all Maintenance staff
- Plan and conduct troubleshooting and rectification of any line defects arising daily in the course of flight operations for all aircraft at base and those transiting on tasking
- Conduct weekly scheduled aircraft line maintenance checks in a timely manner and without impact to aircraft network availability
- Support the development of LAME’s, AME’s and apprentices through mentoring and on-the-job training as required
- Availability for AOG call out after hours on a rotation system with other base engineers
To be considered for this role it is essential you meet the criteria below:
- B1 Licensed Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (LAME)
- Demonstrated maintenance management and maintenance/supervisor experience
- Knowledge of the regulatory environment in relation to Aircraft Maintenance and Continuing Airworthiness
- Proven experience with Turboprop aircraft
- Ability to handle challenging operational situations in a calm and rational manner
- CASA PT66 B1 License on RFDS QLD aircraft types
- Certificate IV in Frontline Management
