RFDS Friends in the USA
A new supporter group has been formed in the USA to help build understanding of, and support for, the Royal Flying Doctor Service of Australia. RFDS Friends in the USA is a US-based nonprofit, connecting individuals and organisations who share a commitment to supporting the lifesaving work of the Flying Doctor.
For almost 100 years, the Flying Doctor has delivered essential healthcare to people living in rural and remote Australia, reaching communities where distance and isolation can make access to care difficult.
Our purpose is simple. We work to ensure distance does not prevent people from getting the healthcare they need.
Through RFDS Friends in the USA, we connect individuals and organisations who share this commitment, helping bring care closer to those who need it most.

Who we are
Royal Flying Doctor Service was founded in 1928 to address the challenges faced by people living far from hospitals and specialist services.
Today, RFDS delivers emergency aeromedical retrievals, primary healthcare, mental health support and preventative health programs across remote and regional Australia.
Why this matters
For many Australians living in rural and remote areas, access to healthcare can involve long travel times, delayed treatment and limited local services.
By combining aviation, medicine and technology, we bring healthcare closer to communities — whether through aeromedical aircraft, remote clinics or telehealth services.
How we work
We work in partnership with the Commonwealth and State governments, local health providers, Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisations and community services to deliver care across rural and remote Australia.
By working together, we help reduce barriers to healthcare and support people who might otherwise face long travel times or limited access to essential care.
Get involved
