RFDS SA/NT was honoured to present three long-serving volunteers with Meritorious Service Awards this year.
Meritorious Service Awards recognise exceptional service by volunteers to the Flying Doctor, nominated by their volunteering peers and endorsed by the RFDS SA/NT Board.

Peter and Lynne Boss
In Whyalla, husband-and-wife team Peter and Lynne Boss were acknowledged for their instrumental roles fundraising for the RFDS Whyalla Support Group since 2016.
The Whyalla Support Group is famous on the Spencer Gulf for its barbecues and bake sales, raising more than $30,000 – a third of its annual fundraising total – from sausage sizzles alone.
The couple put their hand up at least once a fortnight to take up the tongs and always step in to cover at the last minute when needed.
Well into their 80s, age isn’t a barrier for the couple. Peter is also part of the team that collects and sorts the bottles and cans during the week – this activity has generated almost $32,000 since 2008.

Pat Jones
Since joining the RFDS Mount Gambier Support Group almost 25 years ago, Pat has been a very dedicated volunteer for the RFDS.
Despite stepping away from physical roles in recent years, Pat hasn’t stopped – she continues to provide invaluable support behind the scenes; preparing barbecues, selling raffle tickets, speaking at after-hours community events, and diligently recruiting new volunteers.
Pat is the spiritual leader of the group, fostering laughter, morale and all-round fun among volunteers with no need for recognition. Whether it’s bringing the festive spirit at Christmas time or initiating an impromptu game, Pat is unwaveringly committed to uniting her fellow volunteers.
