When Kaysee was a young teen, her mother was diagnosed with a severe genetic lung condition, that without a lung transplant, would kill her. In Flying Doctor Podcast episode #61 Kaysee tells the story of her amazing, strong and courageous mum.

Kaysee and her mum Sarah

Kaysee's mum, Sarah was diagnosed with a genetic condition in her late thirties. She had to fight a long and difficult battle with the condition, which eventually took her life. Despite all of her struggles, Sarah was always generous and kind, always trying her best to make other people happy.

In this podcast interview Kaysee talks about how she has since been tested and found out that she is a carrier of the same condition. Her daughter has also been tested and her levels seem to be okay at this time. This means that they both have to be particularly careful to look after their health and well-being, and be vigilant about any changes in our health.

When Kaysee's daughter gets older, she plans to make sure that she knows about her 'Grammy' and the wonderful life she led. "I will tell her about her 'Grammy's' love for butterflies and purple, and how she drove a car with flowers printed all over it. I will tell her about how her Grammy always made sure I felt loved, and how she would have been a great grandparent", says Kaysee.
