The Organisation

When people talk about the Flying Doctor, thoughts generally turn to red-bellied planes undertaking rescue missions in the Outback. However, the current Victorian story is one that reflects today's challenges for people living in remote and rural communities across the state. While we do still transport people by air and by road, this work is complemented by a range of primary health services that address the most common issues people living in country Victoria face when accessing health care.

About the Program

Patient Transport offers Non-Emergency Patient Transport across Victoria and some areas of New South Wales. We work with a large fleet of ambulances and support our transport services with RFDS aircraft.
Patient Transport provides clinical care for people travelling from home to hospital, hospital to hospital and hospital to home, as well as transport to and from specialist clinics.

About the Role

As a PTO, you will be responsible for the safe and courteous transportation of patients with a variety of medical conditions. Your role will be pivotal in ensuring comfort and care during transit.

Key responsibilities include but not limited to:

- Perform patient assessment and intervention on-road
- Provide high quality patient care and treatment during on-road transport
- Develop and maintain positive working relationships with patients and stakeholders
- Perform independently and problem solve within established policies and procedures
- Work collaboratively with other team members

This full-time role offers a base rate of $30.77/hr, plus salary packaging, penalties, allowances, and superannuation.


To be successful, you will need:

- A minimum qualification of Cert III in Non-Emergency Patient care, Diploma of Nursing, or equivalent. Bachelor of Health Science (Paramedic) students may apply on completion of second year subject units.
- To have the availability to work 10 and 12-hour shifts across 7 days
- To able to drive in both city and country traffic conditions
- To be compassionate, professional, and dedicated to providing excellent service
- Experience working in the NEPT sector in an equal role desirable but not essential
- Satisfactory completion of safety screening including a current Full Drivers Licence, State driver history report, Working with Children's Check, National Police Check, and the right to work in Australia.

Mandatory vaccination policy:

- Annual Influenza

In addition, all positions are subject to a National Police Check and require holding a valid Working with Children Check.
