Proudly serving Australians since 1928, the Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS) provides emergency road, aeromedical and primary health services for people in rural and remote Australia. Patient Transport offers Non-Emergency Patient Transport primarily in Victoria and New South Wales. We work with a large fleet of ambulances and support our transport services with RFDS aircraft.

Patient Transport provides clinical care for people travelling from home to hospital, hospital to hospital and hospital to home, as well as transport to and from specialist clinics.  

About the role

The Royal Flying Doctor Service Victoria is seeking Patient Transport Officers for flexible part‑time roles across Melbourne. We have multiple vacancies
available, working across our Metro branches (hours will be split between Essendon and Mitcham.)

Key responsibilities of the role include:

-Perform patient assessment and intervention on-road
-Provide high quality patient care and treatment during on-road transport
-Develop and maintain positive working relationships with patients and stakeholders
-Perform independently and problem solve within established policies and procedures
-Work collaboratively with other team members

This role base rate is $31.04/hr for Patient Transport Officers, plus additional shift penalties and benefits.

Qualifications and experience required:

-A minimum qualification of Cert III in Non-Emergency Patient care, Diploma of Nursing, or equivalent. Bachelor of Health Science (Paramedic) students may apply on completion of second year subject units.
-Have the availability to work shifts across 7 days when required.
-Able to drive in both city and country traffic conditions
-Be compassionate, professional, and dedicated to providing excellent service
-Have experience working in the NEPT sector in an equal role desirable but not essential
-Satisfactory completion of safety screening including a current Full Drivers Licence, Working with Children's Check, National Police Check, and the right to work in Australia.

Mandatory vaccination policy:

As part of the application process, you will be required to provide evidence of the following vaccinations:
- Hepatitis B
- Varicella (Chicken Pox)
- Measles, Mumps and Rubella
- Diphtheria, Tetanus and Pertussis (Whooping Cough)
- Annual Influenza

All applicants must undergo a driver history and demerit point check, at compliance stage. To be successful, you must not have repeated driving offences within the last three years. In addition, all positions are subject to a National Police Check and require holding a valid Working with Children Check.
