About Us

When people talk about the Flying Doctor, thoughts generally turn to red-bellied planes undertaking rescue missions in the Outback. However, the current Victorian story is one that reflects today's challenges for people living in remote and rural communities across the state. While we do still transport people by air and by road, this work is complemented by a range of primary health services that address the most common issues people living in country Victoria face when accessing health care.

About the role:
We are seeking a compassionate, resilient, and forward‑thinking Mental Health Services Lead to guide and support our teams in delivering high‑quality, person‑centred mental health care. In this pivotal leadership role, you will cultivate a safe, supportive, and empowering environment where staff feel heard, valued, and equipped to provide exceptional care to the community.

You will play a key role in shaping service culture, strengthening clinical practice, and fostering collaborative relationships with internal teams, external partners, and the wider community. This is an opportunity for a leader who thrives in complex environments, brings emotional intelligence to their work, and is committed to continuous improvement. If you are driven by purpose, passionate about supporting mental health professionals, and motivated to make meaningful change—this role offers the opportunity to truly lead with impact.

Key responsibilities include but not limited to:

- Lead governance for Wellbeing programs, including compliance with NSQPCH Standards, ISO 9001, credentialing oversight, policy alignment and audit coordination.
- Collaborating with the Senior Wellbeing Coordinator, oversee program‑level risk, incident and complaint management to ensure thorough assessment, effective mitigation and full compliance with incident management procedures.
- Conduct annual needs assessments, contribute to service reviews and mapping, and oversee clinical intake, entry and exit frameworks
- Drive consumer‑led service design, integrate place‑based solutions, develop sustainable models of care and support cost modelling and revenue optimisation within regulatory requirements.
- Lead workforce planning, staffing allocation, scope‑of‑practice alignment and capability development in partnership with People & Culture and the Clinical Wellbeing Coordinator.
- Oversee program performance monitoring, including data reporting, KPI evaluation, demand management, waitlist oversight and outcome variation analysis.
- Strengthen stakeholder relationships through service agreements, community engagement, health literacy initiatives, regional partnerships and service promotion.
- Support continuous quality improvement initiatives and ensure ongoing enhancement of service delivery, safety and program sustainability
- Manage staff performance processes, onboarding and offboarding, rosters, team communication, meetings, timesheets and leave approvals
- Coordinate and support effective delivery of Wellbeing services across sites through strong operational leadership, service planning and oversight of clinical education, supervision and student programs.

To be successful, you will need:

- A minimum of five years’ experience working within a wellbeing/mental health or broader health services environment.
- At least three years’ experience coordinating a health program, including program planning, logistics, service delivery, and implementation.
- Experience leading or coordinating health teams, with proven leadership in complex or highly regulated clinical environments.
- Strong knowledge of NSQHS Standards and associated accreditation processes.
- High-level computer literacy, including proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel) and experience using MMEX or similar clinical software.
