About the Role
This position is part of the Flying Doctor Wellbeing program, providing mental health care to individuals, families, and groups in regional and remote communities. We are recruiting one Mental Health Clinician, to be based in either Shepparton or Bendigo, depending on the successful candidate’s qualifications and experience.
- In Shepparton, the role is suited to a Registered Psychologist with AHPRA and at least five years of experience in mental health. Experience supporting clients with alcohol and drug use is desirable.
- In Bendigo, the role is ideal for a qualified Social Worker with experience working with clients affected by alcohol and drug use.
In both locations, you’ll deliver a mix of face-to-face and telehealth care, working closely with internal teams and local services to provide accessible, coordinated mental health support. The role emphasizes clinical assessment, intervention, and care planning, with a strong understanding of the unique challenges faced by rural communities.
Key responsibilities include but not limited to:
- Deliver evidence-based mental health interventions and manage a full client caseload, including intake, assessment, and care coordination.
- Monitor and manage clinical risk in consultation with supervisors and participate in regular clinical supervision.
- Travel regularly to isolated communities to provide in-person support and refer clients within the stepped care framework.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to support client outcomes and promote the service through community engagement.
- Maintain accurate clinical records, uphold confidentiality, and contribute to quality improvement and governance activities.
To be successful, you will need:
Bendigo Location:
- Relevant tertiary qualification in Social Work or equivalent.
- Experience working with clients affected by alcohol and drug use.
- Strong clinical skills in assessment, intervention, and care planning, with a deep understanding of challenges faced by rural and remote communities.
- Satisfactory completion of safety screening including a current Working with Children's Check, National Police Check, and the right to work in Australia.
Shepparton Location:
- Relevant tertiary qualification and be a Registered Psychologist with AHPRA
- Strong clinical skills in assessment, intervention, and care planning, with a deep understanding of challenges faced by rural and remote communities.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in mental health
- Desirably have experience working with clients who have drug and alcohol problems.
