Are you passionate about healthcare and highly organised, with a warm and professional manner? The Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS) WA is seeking a skilled and proactive Medical Receptionist to support our Goldfields Community Health Centre, a new initiative in collaboration with Curtin University’s Department of Rural Health in Kalgoorlie.
This is a vital frontline role where you'll be the first point of contact for patients and visitors, providing high-quality administrative and reception support that helps ensure the smooth running of the clinic.
About the role
- Attending to patients in person, over the phone and via email with courtesy and professionalism
- Welcoming patients and visitors with professionalism and empathy
- Managing appointment bookings, cancellations, and urgent clinical follow-ups
- Maintaining accurate and confidential patient records in Best Practice software
- Ensuring a clean, safe, and organised reception and waiting area
- Processing Medicare claims, patient billing and daily banking
- Supporting the clinical team with timely coordination of test results, correspondence, and patient flow
- Handling phone, email and front-desk enquiries efficiently and compassionately
About you
- Experience in medical reception or administrative roles (preferably in a healthcare setting)
- Confidence using patient management systems – Best Practice experience highly regarded
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- A proactive and compassionate approach to patient care
- Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask
- A commitment to confidentiality and professionalism at all times

About Us
The mission of the Royal Flying Doctor Service (Western Operations) is to provide excellence in aeromedical and primary health care across Western Australia. Every member of the RFDS WO team contributes to that mission and living our values of showing respect, demonstrating fairness, utilising diversity and being safe. Every year, the RFDS WO provides urgent retrieval for about 10,000 patients in regional WA. A further 10,000 appointments are provided in primary healthcare clinics in remote communities, including GP, nurse, dental and mental health care. RFDS crews are committed to providing the finest care to the furthest corners of the State, using the highest standards of clinical care, aviation safety and technology to make a difference to people living and working across WA – the largest and most remote health jurisdiction in the world.
The RFDS in WA operates five bases in Perth, Broome, Port Hedland, Kalgoorlie and Meekatharra. Our 24/7 operations centre at Jandakot Airport coordinates complex logistics for patient retrievals and clinics across the State. We work in partnership with government, business and the community, and are proud to work on Country with Aboriginal medical services and many local service providers.
In 2024, the RFDS WO launched a new five-year strategy ‘Above and Beyond’, which will mark an important new chapter in the long Flying Doctor history. The strategy will include a focus on expanding remote health clinics in some of WA’s most vulnerable communities, expanding our profit-for-purpose services, strengthening our workforce, harnessing technology and addressing our environmental sustainability.
